If you are moving from Australia then this page will provide you with the relevant information when considering your move.

In general any type of move involves a lot of planning and preparation, as well as a number of steps you have to take to get everything done. When it comes to moving internationally, there are even more things to consider.

Visa and / or Work Permits?

First find out what is required to live and work in your chosen destination. While

you're planning your overseas move, make sure you find out how long it will take

to get your visa, or other needed documentation, in place before you leave.

Language

What language does the country you are moving to speak? Can they also speak

your language? When moving you may find that you can do the basics, but if you

are getting mail such as bills, and also having to go into government offices for

paperwork, sometimes it can get a bit tricky. Before moving to another country

try  and find guides online which explain all the legal / registration matters that

you will need to do once you arrive. You may also have to sign contracts which can be long and you

don’t really want to be signing things that you can’t read and understand. There are translation services available online for example Google Translate . You could also consider hiring someone to help with translations.

Cost of living?

The cost of living in your new country is a critical factor for consideration when

deciding whether or not the overseas move will be successful. You really do need

to research how much daily life will cost to see if you can afford it.

Where is best to live?

Where will I live? is probably one of the most critical questions to ask yourself

when planning an overseas relocation. Inevitably where you live will likely

determine just how successful your international move will be.  There will be

many online research tools available in your new country but ultimately being

'on the ground' is by far the best way to decide on the best location.

Family and friendship networks

Settling in your chosen country is crucial to making the overseas move a success.

One of the most underestimated factors involved in moving overseas is the fact

that you are generally leaving all of your friends and family behind. You may get

homesick and feel lonely. Meeting new friends in a new destination can take time

and may depend on the type of employment you secure and its location. It will

also depend on whether you get involved in the expat community or social events.

What should I take with me?

When travelling you will be limited as to what you can take with you when you

fly to your new country. Check with your airline though, in certain instances

airlines will increase the weight you can carry if you are migrating. Regardless

of the weight you can carry though, you will be limited to clothing and other

essential items. On arrival it is likely that you will be staying with friends, relatives

or in short term serviced accommodation whilst you source more permanent

accommodation. In many places globally longer term rentals do not come

furnished and of course should you decide to buy a new home it will need furnishing. Consequently you will need to consider shipping your household furniture and personal effects. This is a great time to review your belongings. Why pay to ship an item if you are not likely to use it in your new country. On the flipside consider the cost of buying a new item as opposed to shipping that same item that is already in your possession and can continue to be used in your new home.

The team at Worldwide Move Management can assist you with this process and cost analysis - please contact us for further information.

As a professional moving company, Worldwide Move Management strive to take the utmost care of customers’ valued household goods, personal belongings and motor vehicles throughout the entire move process. By employing the best packing crews, utilising the best available materials, shipping by the most secure and efficient methods of transportation and working with the best partners, we do everything possible to ensure a stress free and safe moving experience.

Unfortunately, as with most things in life, there are elements out of our control during the move process, although we do everything we can to prevent accidents, or unforeseen damage to shipments occurring. For this reason, we offer comprehensive, all risk Extended Warranty Cover to our customers at very competitive premium rates. Further details on our Extended Warranty Cover Policy are detailed in the links below;

The premium for Extended Warranty Cover is calculated from the valuation you place on your shipment of household goods, personal belongings or motor vehicle. You do this by completing a valuation form prior to the move. Upon receipt of the completed valuation form, Worldwide Move Management will arrange for the appropriate Extended Warranty Cover to be issued immediately and the cover will be in place from the commencement of your move right through to the delivery of your belongings at your destination. Extended Warranty Cover is also available, if storage of your shipment is required.

In the unlikely event that you need to make a claim for whatever reason, to expedite the process, this is done electronically. Our underwriters have loss adjusters in every major city across the world, who help ensure that any claim is dealt with and settled quickly. Of course, your dedicated Move Manager will also be available to assist you with any matter throughout the claim process.
